A Christmas tradition from King’s College, Cambridge. This service was intended to give students, who could not go home for Christmas, an opportunity to celebrate the holiday together. Today, this service is a worldwide phenomenon.
The Festival is simple in structure, but beautiful in execution. We sing the carols of Christmas. We are bidden to pray for the world, the Church, the poor, and to remember the Saints. And then we hear nine Lessons, readings from scripture, which tell a story. It is the story of a God who prepared a great Messiah, a Wonderful Counsellor, to be with us and save us from our sins, so that we can be with Him forever.
