Altar Guild
Worship
Altar Guild is more than just a “Ministry,” it’s a fellowship of 30 women dedicated to setting the Lords Table. Even though there are four individual teams and each team takes a Sunday, we serve as One.
During the course of the year we celebrate various seasons, Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Easter and Pentecost and it is the responsibility of the Altar Guild to make these changes. That’s when we all come together to celebrate with food and drink as we change out the seasonal colors and decorate, transforming the Church into a place of splendor to worship each Christmas and Easter.
You will learn when and more importantly why we change colors and banners, set out the Christ/Paschal candle, Bishop Banner, pew torches, aspergillium, and other items the priest will use during the various seasons. You will also learn the proper way to lay out priest vestments and the proper usage of an ambry, credence table, altar candles and floor candles.
In other words, you will learn why we do what we do, and you will take pride in knowing.
How to join
At any time during the year you may contact the Altar Guild Directress, Gwenn McIntosh or call the church office at 281-440-1600.
The only known requirement to be apart of this Ministry is that you mus be confirmed in the Anglican Church. However, this requirement can be waived by the Priest.
