TLDR: A reflection by Father Natividad Menjivar (Naty) on the day of his presentation to the congregation of Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Houston, TX, on July 6, 2025.
It is with profound gratitude and reverent humility that I introduce myself today to this blessed community of Saint Dunstan's. The Rev. Roman Roldan, who is very dear to this community of faith, already introduced me this last Sunday. I am Father Natividad Menjivar, originally from Honduras, and after more than ten years of pastoral service in the Diocese of Oklahoma, today I begin a new stage of ministry in this multicultural and vibrant Church of Houston, guided by the grace and call of the Holy Spirit.
Together with my beloved family, my wife Ana, with whom I have shared twenty years of blessings, and our children Ashley and Naty, we come to join the body of Christ here, with open hearts and hands ready to serve.
I ask the Holy Spirit to "sanctify us in the truth and unite us more fully in his love." This is the mission that motivates me: to strengthen the unity that God has already begun between the Anglo-Saxon and Hispanic cultures in this Church, under the loving guidance of the Vestry and the pastoral leadership of our Rector, to whom I give thanks with all my being for the trust placed in me. United in the love of Christ, we will work so that this community grows in love, in faithful stewardship, and in a genuine commitment to service. Let us not allow differences of language or customs to separate us, but rather, “all who believe in Christ may be united by the Holy Spirit and live in love and peace.” Or as Scripture says, “where there are diversities of gifts, there is one Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:4). May diversity be a reflection of the richness of the Kingdom of God. May we be one body, one Spirit, in the Hope to which we have been called (Ephesians 4:4).
May the sacraments we celebrate together here in this community (Baptisms, Confirmations, and Holy Eucharists) be living sources of grace and strength, nourishing our faith and inspiring us to be ardent witnesses of the Gospel. May each Eucharist be a celebration of faith, a spiritual banquet in which we renew our joy of belonging to Christ and his Church. As we receive Holy Communion each Sunday during my stay in this Sacred place, may we go forth with courage to transform our reality, being hands that serve, mouths that proclaim, and hearts that love. May this house of God always be a refuge where we find rest and a workshop where we shape our lives according to the Father's will, with renewed joy and love.
God has brought me here with the certainty that together we can build a solid, united, and faithful community that lives and responds to the love of Christ. Count on my constant prayers, my committed presence, and my humble service. Let us walk, brothers and sisters, as one body in Christ Jesus, until his promise is fulfilled: "Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity," as Psalm 133:1 says.

Con profunda Gratitud y reverente humildad, hoy soy presentado en esta bendecida comunidad de Saint Dunstan por el Rev. Roman D. Roldan que es muy querido en esta comunidad de fe. Soy el Padre Natividad Menjivar, originario de Honduras, y después de más de diez años de servicio Pastoral en la Diócesis de Oklahoma, hoy inicio una nueva etapa ministerial en esta Iglesia multicultural y vibrante de Houston, guiado por la Gracia y el llamado del Espíritu Santo.
Junto a mi amada familia, mi esposa Ana, con quien he compartido veinte años de bendiciones, y nuestros hijos Ashley y Natian, venimos a integrarnos al cuerpo de Cristo aquí, con corazones abiertos y manos dispuestas a servir.
Pido al Espíritu Santo que “nos santifique en la Verdad, y nos una más plenamente en su amor”. Esta es la misión que me anima: fortalecer la unidad que Dios que ya ha comenzado entre las culturas anglosajona e Hispana en esta Iglesia, bajo la guía amorosa del Vestry y el liderazgo pastoral de Nuestro rector Padre Roman Roldan, a quien doy gracias con todo mi ser por la confianza depositada en mí. Unidos en el amor de Cristo, trabajaremos para que esta comunidad crezca en amor, en mayordomía fiel y en un compromiso genuino de servicio. No permitamos que las diferencias de idioma o costumbres nos separen, sino que, “todos los que creen en Cristo sean Unidos en el Espíritu Santo, y vivan en amor mutuo y paz”. O como dice la Escritura, “donde hay diversidad de dones, pero un mismo Espíritu” (I Corintios 12:4). La diversidad sea el reflejo de la riqueza del Reino de Dios. Que seamos un solo cuerpo, un solo espíritu, en la Esperanza a la que hemos sido llamados (Efesios 4:4).
Que los sacramentos que celebremos juntos acá en esta comunidad: (Bautismos, Confirmaciones y Santa Eucaristías), sean fuentes vivas de Gracia y Fortaleza, que alimenten nuestra fe y nos impulsen a ser testigos ardientes del Evangelio. Que cada Eucaristía sea una fiesta de fe, un banquete espiritual en el que renovemos nuestra alegría de pertenecer a Cristo y a su Iglesia. Que al recibir la Sagrada comunión cada domingo durante mi estancia en este lugar Sagrado, salgamos con valentía a transformar nuestra realidad, siendo manos que sirven, bocas que proclamen y corazones que amen. Que esta casa de Dios sea siempre un refugio donde encontremos Descanso y un taller donde moldeemos nuestra vida conforme a la voluntad del Padre, con gozo y amor renovados.
Dios me ha tenido aquí con la Certeza de que juntos podremos construir una comunidad sólida, unida y fiel, una comunidad que viva y responda al amor de Cristo. Cuenten con mis oraciones constantes, mi presencia comprometida y mi humilde servicio. Caminemos hermanos y hermanas como un solo cuerpo en Cristo Jesús, hasta que se haga realidad su promesa: “miren cuán bueno y cuan agradable es que los hermanos vivan juntos en armonía como dice el Salmo 133:1.
