My heart has been overflowing with gratitude for a busy and Spirit-filled 2025. I am currently working on my Rector’s Report for the upcoming Annual Parish Meeting, but I do not want to wait until then to share some of the highlights of 2025.
We had 5 baptisms, 24 confirmation/Reception/Reaffirmations, and a successful capital campaign. Additionally, we had hundreds of pastoral care clergy visits to hospitals/nursing homes/ and parishioner residences. Perhaps most remarkably, there were hundreds of hours of work done by our pastoral care teams for home communions, flower deliveries, post-hospital meal deliveries, Shepherds support, Stephen’s Ministry, prayer ministry, etc. Not to mention the many hours spent by our teams at Hope Center Houston and Lord of the Streets serving our unhoused brothers and sisters.
Sadly, we had seven deaths in 2025, five of which we buried last year and two of which have scheduled funerals for January 10 and 17. We conducted 14 Bible study classes at the Village at Gleannloch Farms (10 monthly studies, 2 Summer studies on Ezekiel, and 2 Summer studies on Isaiah). We had a year-round Clergy Musings Adult Class on Sundays at 10:10am, and approximately 10 months of Adult Lectionary Bible Studies by Richard Leach. Finally, we had three rounds of Newcomers and Confirmation classes (6 weeks for adults in English, 5 weeks for adults in Spanish, and five weeks for teenagers in English).
Our children were also very busy in 2025. We had Children’s chapel at all 9:00am and 11:15am services, Sunday school and youth groups every Sunday during the school year, several youth lock-ins, two garage sales, 15 youth attended Camp Eagle, more than twenty kids attended Camp Allen, our Acolyte troupe grew to 28 children, and the youth celebrated several feasts like a Stockholder’s dinner and a Christmas party.
Kids Hope had a phenomenal year as well with 22 mentees and an equal number of mentors, several teacher support events, and several great Christmas activities. Street of Shoppes 2.0, the Crafters, and the Market volunteers had another great Fall Festival and additional sales, which raised over $10,000 for outreach. In total, S.O.S. donated almost $20,000 to institutions like Hope Center Houston, Lord of the Streets, NAM, and Seminary of the Southwest. Sadly, the Spanish service has lost several families to deportation, resulting in a reduced average Sunday attendance, but we celebrated several potluck suppers, an amazing Our Lady of Guadalupe service, a Posada, and a wonderful Christmas presents distribution program.
All of these ministries and activities are only possible because of the support and generosity of all of our parishioners. Thank you for your love and generosity. Our Lord is doing amazing things among us!
May he continue to bless us, amen!
