Fall 2023 Youth Happenings

Fall 2023 Youth Happenings

by Sandy Jones on August 16, 2023

There are many exciting things happening with the Youth of Saint Dunstan’s. On August 4, we had a successful lock-in, with 18 youth attending. It was so much fun, I didn’t even mind sleeping on the hard floor (well, not as much as I anticipated anyway). The success is due to the efforts of the volunteers who gave so generously of their time. Chris Roldan, Mike Stewart, and Angela Stengl played games, sang karaoke, laughed, watched movies, and listened. They made the youth feel welcome and comfortable. I had a blast and hope the youth enjoyed themselves as well.

On 8/20/23, Junior Daughters of the King (JDOK) will be having a Mother-Daughter tea in Youth Room 1 at 12:30 PM. JDOK is for girls ages 7 through 18 and focuses on Service, Prayer, and Evangelism. All interested girls and their mothers are invited to join us for this kick-off tea. Please click here to sign-up to bring a dish to share.

On 9/10/23, Junior High and Senior High School Sunday School will resume. We hope to see all youth at 10:10 in Youth Room 1 (Jr. High) and Youth Room 3 (High School). A huge thank you to our Youth Sunday School teachers.

Also on 9/10/23, Youth Group kicks off with a potluck dinner and family kickball game at 6:00 PM. We hope all youth, their families, and all youth volunteers can join us. Y’all do not want to miss out on my mad kickball skills. So, dress comfortably for hot weather, don’t forget your running shoes and lots of water, and bring a dish to share.

There is also still time for our High Schoolers to sign-up to participate in Happening at Camp Allen. Happening is a special weekend in which High Schoolers explore the Christian faith more fully. Happening #177 is taking place September 29 through October 1. Two of our High School Youth have registered for this exciting event and hope that more youth from St. Dunstan’s will be able to join them. For more information and to register, please visit: https://www.epicenter.org/happening/

Also, we will be having a Garage Sale, benefitting the summer youth programs (Camp Eagle and High School Mission Trip) on 10/21/23. Please plan to bring any gently used items cluttering up your garage, closets, or attic to donate. More details will follow soon.

I so appreciate this opportunity to work with our youth, their families, and the wonderful volunteers who serve the youth program here at St. Dunstan’s. You are AMAZING! If you have questions about our upcoming events, would like to become more involved, or have ideas you would like to share, please email me at

This time, my prayer comes from homefaithfamily.com, “Dear God, please give the young people in our church wisdom as they make important decisions. Help them to seek Your will in all they do. And please give them the courage to follow Your leading, no matter where it might take them. Amen.”
