Children's Christian Formation (Sunday School)
Sunday school classes for children ages two through 5th grade are offered from 10:10 to 10:50 a.m. each Sunday. The Toddler 2-year class uses Group Publishing's Hands-On Bible and Gospel Light Publishing curricula, which is organized by monthly themes. Ages 3 through 9 (3rd grade) participate in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd classes. Catechesis is Montessori-based, hands-on religious formation based on the conviction that God and the child are in relationship. Grades 4 and 5 (Club 45) uses ECC (Episcopal Children’s Curriculum) which is rooted in the Bible and our church traditions and worship.
Club45
“Club 45” is for our Fourth and Fifth graders. We use a variety of curricula, including the ECC (Episcopal Children’s Curriculum) which is rooted in the Bible and our church traditions and worship. The three-year curriculum was developed in cooperation with the Center for the Ministry of Teaching at the Virginia Theological Seminary. Early Learning Center (ELC)
Formerly known as “Mother’s Day Out”, this preschool provides a 2, 3 and 5 day weekly program, from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., offered during the school year. It features a well-staffed, Christ-centered, safe and loving environment to community and parish children ages 6 weeks to 6 years. "Before and Aftercare" is available every day from 8:00am - 5:00pm.
Father / Child Weekend Retreat at Camp Allen
An annual fall weekend retreat where all father/child and grandfather/child combinations are invited -- and mom has the weekend off! Camp Allen is located in a beautiful pine forest with two lakes, one-hour north west of Houston near Navasota. You can enjoy lots of outdoor fun with your kids: canoeing, fishing, horseback-riding, hiking, and crafts. The facilities are modern: cabin/dormitories have air-conditioned sleeping areas, complete kitchens, meeting areas, shower house, and covered deck.
Nursery
We provide a caring environment for infants through age five that is staffed with professional childcare workers. Personal pagers alert parents when they are needed. Sundays from 8:30am - 12:15pm in the north end of the Bentley Education Center.
GRACE
God Rejoices for Adults and Children with Exceptional needs
This year-round Sunday morning program is held from 9:00 am - 10:00 am. GRACE Family Ministry provides a worship/learning atmosphere designed for children and young adults with special needs – while providing their parents the opportunity to attend the 9:00 worship service. The mission of GRACE ministry is to share God’s love with children and young adults who have disabilities, and to enable them to become an active part of God’s family.
Vacation Bible School
A fun-filled week of Christian formation activities using Group Publishing's VBS materials is offered during June for children ages three to eleven. VBS is staffed by volunteer adult and teen members of the congregation. This Summer,was "High Seas Expedition"
Baptism (Children)
Baptism of children is arranged through the church office and are scheduled five times a year as part of a service of Sunday Holy Eucharist. All parents are required to attend an instruction course.
Wednesdays @ Church
During the school year, Wednesdays at Church (WAC) nights feature an opportunity to foster fellowship and spiritual formation during the week through various adult classes, small groups, youth Bilble study, and children’s choir opportunities. Book Ministry
An on-campus bookstore and gift shop offers a selection of religious fiction and non-fiction, Bibles, and Prayer Books, gifts and cards.
Children's Choirs
This children’s music program, for age 4 through grade 7, includes choir and handchimes or handbells. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm (W@C night which is “Wednesday at Church”) – join up now! There are Three children’s choirs: Cherubs (age 4-PreSchool); St. Nicholas (Grades K-3rd); St. Cecilia/Chimes (Grades 4-Middle). They use a variety of music, including contemporary and the Royal School of Church Music curriculum, Voice for Life, which teaches not only music fundamentals and growth, but also liturgical knowledge. The choirs sing the first Sunday of the month at the 9 a.m. Sunday service, and at the 4:00 pm Christmas Eve Family Service. The children's choirs do not meet during the summer months.
Children's Liturgy
At the 9 a.m. and 11:00am Sunday services, children age 3 through kindergarten begin their worship in the Nave with their families, then move to their own liturgy to participate in an age-appropriate format of the Liturgy of the Word. After the exchange of the Peace, they are reunited with their parents to participate in the Eucharist with the congregation. For details "click here".
